t this fascinating display of live ant cities and more, kids find out just
how much these tiny critters impact our world. Four species of ants, which
are common in the Los Angeles Basin, will be on display: Red Imported Fire
Ants, Harvester Ants, Argentine Ants and Big-headed Ants. There are
other insects, too - the kind that bite us, eat our food, even ones that can
eat a house! Students will learn how to identify the ants, study their life
cycles and even gain knowledge about their medical and economic importance.
The L.A. County Agricultural Commissioner/Weights & Measures Department has
been protecting the consumer and the environment since 1881. The
organization also provides useful information about controlling pests in
your home or garden.
